Did you know, conventionally grown (non-organic) cotton uses more insecticides than any other crop in the world? It is estimated that each year cotton producers use as much as 25 percent of the world’s insecticides and more than 10 percent of the world’s pesticides; an enormous amount for just one crop!
Every day we feel the harmful effects of non-organic cottons and fabrics. These carcinogens poison farmers all over the world, as well as animals and wildlife when it seeps into the earth, lakes, rivers and waterways.
Organic cotton farming uses natural methods of pest reduction and fertilisation to make the crops grow. It's what Mother Nature intended. Traditionally, cotton fabric is processed using harsh chemicals - bleaches and finishers. These residues stays in the fabric wash after wash, and can get transferred to skin. It's often dyed with inks that contain traces of formaldehyde, heavy metals and other nasties. Our organic cotton is GOTS (The Global Organic Textile Standard) certified, meaning the fabric has been processed using the gentlest methods - from when it's picked to eco-friendly and water-based inks that are soft on skin. Even people and pets with chemical sensitivity and allergies can wear organic cotton safely.
Hand wash or machine wash cold on delicate cycle inside a laundry bag or pillowcase to protect hardware. Hang to dry away from direct sunlight. We recommend to use an environmentally friendly laundry detergent or gentle soap. Alternatively, spot clean with a stain remover.
To prolong the life of your item and avoid excess staining, please remove the item before rough play dates or muddy adventures. Although very durable, we do not recommend salt water exposure for our hardware.
